I just finished reading Domain Names Revealed, a domaining ebook by someone called Ben Page.
There are some 72 pages in total in the book.
The book starts of explaining the basics about domaining including domain registrations, domain extensions, regulatory bodies, registrars. It’s all quite legible and easy to follow and a good introduction for domaining newbies.
The next topic Ben talks about is domain valuation and appraisal. He extensively explains various factors that affect domain valuation and points to various tools you can use to appraise a domain. He makes a reference to Alexa which really shouldn’t be considered a reliable indicator of domain traffic but other than that the techniques and ideas he portrays are on the spot.
Page then warns readers against rushing into purchases and makes an important note warning people off cybersquatting.
The next topic that gets a solid comb through is domain buying and selling. Domain flipping gets a mention too and is followed up with extensive information on expired domains and ways to purchase them.
The book is wrapped up with a discussion of PPC parking providers and domain monetization in general.
Overall, I haven’t regretted purchasing the ebook as even though I haven’t learned anything new, I am able to conclude that this is an excellent domain ebook for someone who wants a quick introduction to domaining. If you are a medium level domainer there are many useful links and tips within the book that would warrant the purchase.
Considering the price of $19.99 it’s pretty much a no brainer, but he states the price is that low for a limited time.
